Overview
If it floats, it's a boat. Not all boats are created equal. Trail-Finder.com is your source for all information on human-powered boats.
Types of Boat
Canoe
Canoes are good for a wide variety of uses, from lakes to gentle rivers, even small rapids. Canoes normally accommodate one or two people, with room for a third, small person in the middle, in some. They're great boats for taking small children out with you, before they're big enough to paddle on their own.
Kayaks
Kayaks come in a variety of forms, with sea kayaks and whitewater kayaks being the most common. Kayaks are similar to canoes, but generally narrower, and they usually only hold one person. A waterproof deck allows you to stay afloat, even with large, ocean waves or rough rapids.
Whitewater Rafts
Whitewater rafts come in a variety of sizes, ranging from just a few people up to a dozen or more. They are most commonly used by groups of people traveling down large rivers with plenty of rough rapids.
