Overview

Flagging tape is brightly-colored, inexpensive plastic tape, sold in long rolls (50-100 meters), which can be used to temporarily mark trails or locations in the backcountry.

Flagging tape is especially useful in emergencies, where you need a clear route for rescuers to follow.

Usage

Simply cut or tear off a length of flagging tape and tie it around a branch, rock, or anything else that's available.

Environmental Responsibility

Flagging tape is not biodegradable. It's brightly colored and durable specifically so that it won't break down and you can spot it from a long distance. Unfortunately, this also makes it prime litter. If you use it, be sure to remove it when it's no longer needed.
