Manistee River Trail
From Trail-Finder -- Dedicated to getting you outside
Overview
This is a 20 mile or so loop trail that is part of the famous North Country Trail and is a must do in the fall for the colors and is the perfect early to mid October long weekender.
The first 10 miles is along the east side of the manistee river and is highlighted by a nice waterfall, a cool footbridge that's a scale replica of the Mackinaw bridge and many beautiful river bluffs. The back ten miles after Red Bridge is deeper into the forest with lush pines groves and hardwood stands ( keep in mind that there is not much water in second 1/2 of loop, so plan accordingly ).
