Parks come in all types and sizes. Most parks are publicly owned and operated by various branches of government. These include city parks, county parks, state parks, provincial parks, and national parks. Some countries have also been getting together to create international parks.

With budget cuts in many countries slashing budgets for wilderness protection, private groups, like World Wildlife Fund, have been buying land and opening up that land for public use.
